The Google Nexus One Phone

For some time Google has been the top internet search engine with millions of people jumping on to surf the web daily. With the arrival of the Google Nexus One phone, the company has jumped over to the cellular industry to try their luck. While there are critics, as with any product in the technological world, the phone actually holds its own fairly well.

The first thing you will notice is its similarity to the iPhone as it looks more like the iPhone than anything else on the market. There is no actual keyboard like the Motorola Droid and it features a slim, sleek and sexy design. At just 11.5 mm deep, it is even thinner than the iPhone 3GS, which comes in at 12.3 mm. It is also slightly lighter at just 130 grams compared to 135 grams.

There are four primary functional touch buttons to find which are the back, menu, home and search buttons. Most of the interaction will be through the 3.7 inch 480 X 800 OLED touch-screen, which is far superior to the iPhone’s 480 X 320 display. It is bright, vibrant, and truly blows viewers away.

Another incredible feature of the Google Nexus One phone is its high-powered Snapdragon 1 GHz core processor. This can easily handle everything the phone has to offer including 3D graphics, multiple applications and heavy browser use simultaneously. There is absolutely no lag when pushing the phone’s performance.

As with any device, you are bound to have some flaws. With the Nexus One, battery life can be troubling. It officially has up to 7 hours talk time, 250 hours standby, 5 hours of 3G internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 20 hours of audio playback. Unfortunately, with the bright screen these numbers do seem to be skewed as it does not take long to kill the battery.

While there are some other minor flaws, this is a far superior mobile device when paired with Google Voice. If you would like an unlocked GSM version that works in most countries, expect to spend $529. However, you can purchase an unlocked subsidized version through T-Mobile for just $179.

For now, Google is calling the Nexus One the first of the Super Phones. What is scary is what Google has already done and continues to do on the internet. The Google Nexus One phone could very well be the first of a monster that is growing in the cell phone industry.
